Summer 2025 Willman Spawn Conservation Internship at APS
Listing Start Date: February 15, 2025
Expires: March 4, 2025
The American Philosophical Society is again offering a paid summer conservation internship for a current book or paper major enrolled in a graduate program in art conservation. The APS is the oldest learned society in North America, and possesses an extensive research library focusing primarily on the early history of the United States, the history of science, and Native American languages. The APS Museum creates an exhibition each year that focuses on materials drawn from these collection areas. The APS Conservation Department consists of myself and Assistant Conservator Fleur van der Woude, and with our interns we support all the work of the APS Library & Museum.
The internship is typically 8-10 weeks long, and this year we hope to begin the internship in July and extend it into August or September. In addition to expanding and refining their treatment and collections-care skills, interns are expected to deliver an informal lunch talk to the APS community and to write a blog post for the APS website. The internship offers no benefits, and the pay is $25/hour. The APS is unable to sponsor international work visas.
