Conservation Technician – Pacific Coast Conservation

Pacific Coast Conservation is hiring for a full-time conservation technician to start this summer.
Job Description:
Full-time; 40 hrs per week
Hiring rage: $48k – $52k per year. Benefits include 4 weeks of paid vacation, medical insurance, and 401k. There will be a 3-month trial period for this position.
Pacific Coast Conservation (PCC) is an art & artifact conservation and collection management firm. We are currently looking for a conservation technician. We are a small firm based out of Denver with clients throughout the United States. We have been in business since 2014 and work with various clients including cities, universities, museums, galleries, the federal government, and private collectors.
The position will be responsible for carrying out conservation treatments of sculpture and other 3-D works of art and artifacts, working under the direction of an art conservator.
Ideally, we are looking for a fine artist with construction tendencies. Someone who is a generalist and has skills in a variety of areas. We are a small company, so jumping in when things need to get done is vitally important. A willingness to learn.
Technician Responsibilities:
· Assess artworks for condition and condition reporting
· Photography of the artworks before, during and after treatment
· Cleaning and repair of artworks using various mechanical and chemical means
· Waxing sculptures, hot and cold
· Re-grouting, stabilization of cracking stone
· Organize and clean studio / supplies
· Packing and preparation for onsite treatments
· Tracking hours of project work
Job Requirements:

Experience preferred:
· Fine art skills
· Attention to fine details and color matching
· Experience with welding / patination preferred
· Metal-working and/or wood working background
· Ability to do fine detail work (painting, drawing, sculpting)
· Experience hanging artwork to museum and gallery specifications
· Ability to learn new techniques and problem solve
· Previous work with various metals, wood, stone, tile, glass, ceramics, etc.
· Fine art and photography skills
· Art deinstallation, handling, transport, and re-installation
· Bachelor’s degree or greater
· 2+ years in a museum or similar
· Effective with Apple hardware, Microsoft Office and Google Suite, Adobe Lightroom
Travel will be required, up to two weeks per month during busy times. Will need to use personal vehicle to get to job sites and occasionally carry supplies.
