Preventive Conservator – Midwest Art Conservation Center (MACC)

The Midwest Art Conservation Center (MACC) is seeking a full time Preventive Conservator to join our team. MACC is a leader in the field of Preventive Conservation: we are committed to making conservation information accessible, to empowering individuals to care for their collections, and to the impact we see in our communities. This position will work closely with the Director of Preventive Conservation to present and develop workshops; consult on collections care, preservation planning, and disaster preparedness; collaborate on repatriation and research projects; conduct General Preservation Assessments; and develop technical leaflets. The position collaborates with all MACC Conservators, and with collections caretakers across the region, and requires some travel.
The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in art conservation with a strong interest in preventive conservation and the ability to work collaboratively with professionals and community members from a range of backgrounds. A valid driver’s license is required. The position is open to US citizens and others with legal eligibility to work in the US. This position does not include bench work.
Advancements in responsibilities, title, and salary are available and encouraged.
The position provides a starting annual salary of $68,000 along with generous benefits including employer paid medical, dental, 403B contributions, vacation and sick time, AIC membership, professional development, and assistance in relocation expenses.
MACC is an independent, non-profit, regional center providing comprehensive services in Paintings, Objects, Paper, Textiles, and Preventive Conservation. The staff is collaborative, very collegial, and works innovatively with the curatorial and collection professionals at hundreds of non-profit organizations including fine art museums, historical societies, universities, cultural centers, governments, libraries, archives, and the public.
MACC facilities are located within the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
